The team at Modern Dealership is excited to share some of the keynote speakers at this year’s NADA Show.
COO and President of Focus Brands North America
Before becoming head of parent company Focus Brands, Kat Cole turned Cinnabon around from a floundering mall food court staple to a thriving brand with sales in excess of $1 billion and more than 1,200 stores in 56 countries. Cole is also a humanitarian working in Africa for sustainable development for the benefit of women and children. She also provides mentoring to young women and entrepreneurs. Cole appeared in season four of the television show Undercover Boss.
Cole shares the story of her meteoric rise up the corporate ladder, from working as a hostess part time as a 19-year-old college student to heading some of the world’s best-known food brands by age 32. She provides insight into successful team building, self-awareness, and effective leadership. Cole speaks at 2:30pm on Friday, January 25 in the San Francisco Ballroom South at Moscone Center.
Emmy Award-winning Actor and Comedian
Though apparently “not turtley enough” for the Turtle Club, Emmy Award winner Dana Carvey is well known as a standup comic, former talk show host, and most notably for seven years as a cast member of Saturday Night Live. Among Carvey’s memorable characters are the Church Lady, Hans (who, along with Franz, is here to pump you up), and of course Garth Algar, co-host of Wayne’s World. If you think we were going to leave out his impressions of Ross Perot, Bob Dole, and the first President Bush, well…na ga da it.
It wouldn’t be prudent to miss Carvey Saturday afternoon at 3pm on January 26. Carvey is expected to bring comedic insights into a wide range of political and current events as a Keynote Speaker at NADA 2019.
Major Dan Rooney
USAF, Fighter Pilot, PGA Professional, Patriotic Philanthropist and Author
Major Dan Rooney’s resume includes decorated F-16 pilot with three completed combat tours of duty in Iraq, a concurrent career as a PGA golf professional, and if that weren’t enough, founder of Folds of Honor, an organization which has raised over $100 million and awarded over 16,000 scholarships to family members of fallen or disabled military personnel.
Rooney highlights the application of principles of teamwork, trust, compassion and accountability to business and other endeavors. He has received the Top Gun award twice, as well as other decorations including the Distinguished Service Medal, Air Force Commendation Medal, and the Presidential Volunteer Service Award. He is scheduled to appear at NADA 2019 on Sunday, January 27 at 9am.
Wesley L. Lutz
2018 NADA Chairman
Also speaking Friday, January 25th, 2018 NADA Chairman Wes Lutz. Lutz is president of Extreme Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep/RAM in Jackson, Michigan. A Chrysler dealer since 1976, Lutz represents Michigan’s franchised new-car dealers on NADA’s board of directors. He is also current board member and former president of the Michigan Automobile Dealers Association. Lutz previously served on the NADA board from 2001-2004.
Lutz also serves as YMCA board member, and has maintained close involvement with his alma mater, the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor.
Charles W. Gilchrist
2018 NADA Vice Chairman
President of SouthWest Ford in Weatherford, Texas and 2018 NADA Vice Chairman, Charles W. “Charlie” Gilchrist started in the automotive business as controller of a heavy-truck store before becoming GM of two Ford dealerships, SouthWest Ford and Nichols Ford.
Gilchrist became president of SouthWest Ford in 1992 and represents Northern Texas’s franchised new-car dealers on the NADA board of directors. He serves as board member at Weatherford College, the Texas Automobile Dealers Association, and Texas Bank. Gilchrist is 2019 NADA Chairman-elect and speaks Saturday, January 26th.
